Pharmacy
The Guaranteed Admission Program to VCU’s School of Pharmacy prepares highly qualified individuals in the doctoral program to engage in the responsible provision of drug therapy for the purpose of improving a patient’s quality of life. The educational program is designed to provide a sound scientific and professional background for those who will enter the practice of pharmacy and those who wish to continue graduate education in the pharmaceutical sciences.
Guaranteed Admission students who successfully meet all the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy may enter the VCU School of Pharmacy for the Pharm.D. without further competition.
The Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy offers two tracks, the first is a seven- or eight-year program and the second track is a six-year program. With the traditional track of the seven or eight-year program, provided all requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy have been met, including graduation with University Honors, students may utilize the guaranteed admission with the School of Pharmacy after three or four years of undergraduate study. The six-year PharmD program allows students to focus on pharmacy prerequisite coursework over two years of undergraduate study with a 60 credit hour plan and then matriculate to the VCU School of Pharmacy without competing via general admissions. Unlike the traditional track, six year program is accelerated and does not include completion of a bachelor's degree. Students interested in applying to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy should review the application and admissions process details.
Only current high school seniors are eligible to apply. College transfer students are not eligible for the Honors College Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy. However, VCU Honors College pre-pharmacy students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track for Pharmacy, which offers an opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy at the end of your sophomore year.
