VCHC gathers Honors students from both Virginia and West Virginia from public and private universities to present and showcase their undergraduate research. This year’s conference was held in Winchester, Va. at Shenandoah University. Students were accompanied to the conference by Honors College Dean, Scott Breuninger, Ph.D.

“Receiving the VCHC Honors Scholar of the Year Award means a lot to me,” Bowen said. “I have made a conscious effort these past few years to pour a lot of my time and energy into the Honors College because this program has given me so many great opportunities. What is most special to me is knowing I was nominated by professors whom I really admire and respect, such as Professor Mary Boyes and Professor Ann Marie Halstead. They are such large contributors to my amazing experience in the Honors College so far, and I was so honored to hear that they vouched for my passion, abilities and heart.”
