Preferred Applicant
The Honors College Preferred Applicant Track Program allows current VCU Honors College students to apply for entry into select VCU professional and graduate programs prior to the general admissions process via our Guaranteed Admission Program. Students offered admission into the Preferred Applicant Track Program who successfully complete all Guaranteed Admission Program requirements will enter into their professional or graduate program without competing via general admissions at a later date. A detailed listing of program requirements and application procedures can be found below.
The VCU Department of Biostatistics has trained biostatisticians for over 40 years and continues to help students prepare for an ever-changing landscape. In addition to training in database management and analysis, our students are provided experiential training in biostatistical collaboration and consulting, where they work with real researchers on actual projects.
VCU Honors College students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track for Biostatistics, which offers an opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for the M.S. in Biostatistics at the end of your junior year.
Virginia’s only School of Dentistry prepares individuals to be efficient providers of quality oral healthcare, lifetime learners who are responsive to future changes in the profession, and practitioners focused on advancing knowledge in the field. Guaranteed Admission students who successfully meet all the requirements may enter the VCU School of Dentistry for the D.D.S. without further competition.
VCU Honors College pre-dental students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track for Dentistry, which offers an opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Dentistry at the end of your sophomore year.
The M.D. degree through the VCU School of Medicine offers a strong, innovative medical curriculum that emphasizes both academic study and compassionate patient care, preparing students for the challenges and complexities of medical practice. Guaranteed Admission students who successfully meet all of the of the Guaranteed Admission Program may enter the School of Medicine without further competition.
VCU Honors College premedical students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track for Medicine, which offers an opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Medicine at the end of your sophomore year.
The Occupational Therapy Doctorate (O.T.D.) program prepares students for entry-level practice while also providing advanced training in evidence-based practice, interprofessional and collaborative care and program and career development. The Guaranteed Admission Program for Occupational Therapy offers a unique seven-year program (four years of undergraduate studies, three years of professional school). Students who are accepted into the Guaranteed Admission Program for Occupational Therapy and successfully complete the program requirements during the four years of undergraduate study will not compete via general admission for the VCU OTD entry-level program.
Honors College pre-occupational therapy students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track, which offers the opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Occupational Therapy at the end of your sophomore year. Upon successful completion of the Guaranteed Admission Program, students will be eligible to enter the College of Health Professions Entry-Level OTD Program without further competition.
The Guaranteed Admission Program to VCU’s School of Pharmacy prepares highly qualified individuals in the doctoral program to engage in the responsible provision of drug therapy for the purpose of improving a patient’s quality of life. The educational program is designed to provide a sound scientific and professional background for those who will enter the practice of pharmacy and those who wish to continue graduate education in the pharmaceutical sciences.
Guaranteed Admission students who successfully meet all the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy may enter the VCU School of Pharmacy for the Pharm.D. without further competition.
VCU Honors College pre-pharmacy students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track for Pharmacy, which offers an opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Pharmacy at the end of your sophomore year.
VCU’s Doctorate of Physical Program prepares students for entry into the physical therapy profession by teaching them to evaluate and manage patients with physical problems effectively and in accordance with ethical principles. The Guaranteed Admission Program for Physical Therapy offers a unique seven-year program (four years of undergraduate studies, three years of professional school). Students who are accepted into the program and successfully complete the program requirements during the four years of undergraduate study will not compete via general admission for the VCU DPT Program.
Honors College pre-physical therapy students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track, which offers the opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Physical Therapy at the end of your sophomore year. Upon successful completion of the Guaranteed Admission Program, students will be eligible to enter the College of Health Professions DPT Program without further competition.
The Master of Public Health Program prepares students committed to public health careers in either the public, private, or nonprofit sectors. Fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the VCU MPH program is closely linked with local, state and national public health agencies, organizations, and professionals in order to enhance the student's appreciation and understanding of the application of public health principles to practice and research.
VCU University Honors graduates and VCU Honors students may apply to the MPH via the Preferred Applicant Track without competing via general admissions for acceptance into the MPH. Students must apply by November 1st of the year prior to entry into the M.P.H.
The VCU School of Education and the VCU Honors College offer six graduate degree programs: M.Ed. in Adult Learning; M.Ed. in Counselor Education; M.Ed. in Educational Leadership; M.Ed. in Reading; M.Ed. in Special Education; and Masters of Teaching.
VCU Honors College students may elect to follow the Preferred Applicant Track for these programs, which offers an opportunity to apply to the Guaranteed Admission Program for Education when they reach Junior standing (60 earned credit hours).
