Honors College bestows honors to near record number of graduates

The Honors class of 2024 sits at the Siegel Center during the commencement addressThe Virginia Commonwealth University Honors College bestowed honors to one of its largest classes to date during its Spring 2024 commencement ceremony last Thursday, May 9 at the Siegel Center on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. 

The Honors College bestowed Honors to 211 graduates. Honors students represented every college on VCU’s academic campus: the College of Engineering, the College of Humanities and Sciences, the College of Health Professions, the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, the School of the Arts, the School of Business, the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work, University College and the VCU Life Sciences.

Ram Bhagat, Ed.D., who served as the commencement speaker, encouraged Honors graduates to take the reigns as the next generation to effect positive change in the world.  

"Acknowledge the power of diversity and embrace the light within yourself," Bhagat told students.

Bhagat is a leader in the Richmond community who specializes in international conflicti resolution and arts integration.
