Christy Tyndall joined the Honors College as Assistant Professor and Student Wellbeing Program Coordinator in 2018. In the years prior, she worked with the Honors College to develop and pilot the curriculum for the First Year Course: Flourishing. Christy is passionate about promoting student wellbeing and success.

A lifelong student of psychology, Christy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Southern California, Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Doctorate in Educational Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Christy worked extensively in higher education at both four-year and two-year institutions with leadership experience in student orientation services and financial services, and has been teaching in higher education since 2005. Also an experienced psychological counselor, Christy has worked with adolescents and adults in multiple settings using cognitive behavioral approaches to identify and implement adaptive strategies for personal change and wellness.

Christy’s areas of research expertise include promoting college student success, motivation, and teaching/learning in higher education.  She is a member of Blue Key, Golden Key, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Mortar Board National Honor Society, and Psi Chi, National Honor Society for Psychology.
