The Virginia Commonwealth University Honors College bestowed Honors to 65 graduates, the highest academic accolade given to VCU undergraduate students, at its Fall 2023 commencement ceremony on Friday, December 8, 2023.
Students, their chosen families and Honors College faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the milestone, for what was one of the largest fall graduating classes in recent Honors College history.
“You have learned the skills that will be necessary no matter what you are going to do next,” said Honors College Dean Scott Breuninger, Ph.D. in his address to the graduating class. “Whether you are going to medical school or law school, graduate school or working in the arts, teaching or working in business, the education that you received at VCU as part of the Honors College will stay with you, and I hope will provide you with an advantage no matter what comes next.”
Student speaker at the ceremony, Shreya Patel, encouraged her fellow graduates to be excited and ready for their lives after undergrad.
"Don't be afraid to take chances," Patel said. "The world is waiting for you."
